There are dozens of open mic nights in various locations throughout the city. Very few of them have showcased the rough, rugged and raw feel of where hip hop emcees really shined. If you've witnessed, heard stories about, or listened to veterans speak about "cyphers in the park"- do you ever wonder....does spots like that exist in Sin City? Not only from an emcee stand point but from breakers and dancers as well. Just think- of all the breakers and crews that show up at various events every few months, where do the b boys and b girls get down at just to have a good time and stay in practice? Are there any community centers that will open their doors to these young artist and dancers- or will they be forced to only perform and practice at dive bars, open mics with little crowds, or in the basement of the homeboys' place. There are a number of dance schools and academes in Clark County and we here very little about them. Well- unless you know somebody who knows somebody-who knows someone who USE to go there. And as small as this community of hip hop heads is here- there isn't enough room for those who want to learn more, teach more, and spread the word about it- so some are forced to start their own thing. And that will only sprout up another group of hip hop followers who stand outside of the community walls. 

A fair shake should be played to find and publicize more events, more venues to promote more good times. So many people talk about what they see in the events here in Vegas- ..."it's the same heads at every venue...", or events being thrown by a click of people and that's all that shows up is that click of people- it just seems that you rented out a venue to throw a house party. There has to be something out there that everyone- and we mean EVERYONE wants to see changed in the hip hop community. Be it's only being said within the confines of the circle or the area of which they have. 

Starting today, we leave the bullshit at the door. Or even at home for that matter. Think about the stories or movies that rest in your head- when a cypher kicked off during lunch at your high school, or right after school by the train tracks. Or at the city park when the street lights came on and there was either a boom box or a beat box. And cats were spitting rhymes just caused the had something to say. Or heading down to the park or the local YMCA or gym and folks would just get into a zone were the James Brown would blare in the area and folks would just amaze not only those around them, but themselves as well. Are there any places like that in Vegas? Is that what you wished were here in Vegas? What the hell are we waiting for?
